Took this out on a snowy trail this morning, and the velcro releases so smoothly with just a firm yank that I didn’t have to fumble with cold fingers at all. The Velcro closure paired with that heavy snap is exactly what I needed—it releases cleanly when I tug, but holds firm while we’re moving. No clunky metal dangling behind my dog’s harness, which was my biggest worry.
