I read it in two sittings because the way Neff describes Alaska makes you feel the cold and the quiet. It’s a real story about a guy who just went for it, and that pulled me along more than any thriller I’ve picked up this year.
I’m usually a slow reader, but Neff’s story from Chicago to Alaska pulled me right along, and the way he captures the raw quiet of the trail feels like you’re riding the runners with him. Finished it in two sittings, and it’s the kind of book that leaves you staring out the window afterward.
